Cu toate c\u0103 numele de Beetle \u015fi Bug au fost adoptate rapid de c\u0103tre publicul larg, abia \u00eencep\u00e2nd cu august 1967 compania \u00eencepe s\u0103-i foloseasc\u0103 numele \u00een materialele promo\u0163ionale. \u00cenainte, ma\u015finu\u0163a era denumit\u0103 fie Type I, fie 1200, 1300 sau 1500, acestea fiind numele sub care era comercializat\u0103 \u00een Europa \u00eenainte de 1967.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00cen 1979, Volkswagen a \u00eentrerupt v\u00e2nz\u0103rile broscu\u0163ei din Statele Unite, dar a continuat produc\u0163ia pentru Mexic \u015fi America Latin\u0103.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La jum\u0103tatea anilor 1990, \u00eentr-un moment \u00een care Volkswagen se str\u0103duia s\u0103 relanseze v\u00e2nz\u0103rile \u00een Statele Unite, \u015feful executiv Ferdinand Piech a \u00eencercat s\u0103 re\u00eenvie \u015fi s\u0103 modernizeze designul distinctiv Beetle, pionieratul bunicului s\u0103u, Ferdinand Porsche. Rezultatul a fost o ma\u015fin\u0103 \u00een form\u0103 de semilun\u0103, numit\u0103 \u201cNew Beetle\u201d, lansat\u0103 \u00een 1998.
